Was given the go-ahead last night to invest in a speaker upgrade to the tune of €400. I have a couple of speakers in mind, the Dali Zensor 3 and Polk Audio RTi A3. The Dali's are beloved by What Hi-Fi whereas the Polk's received quite a nice review from Stereophile. Can anyone chip in with their own experiences with these or perhaps offer an alternative to investigate?

Thanks in Advance

Just bear in mind that What HiFi have a rather overdamped listening room, and consequently folks can have issues with their speaker suggestions in a more normal domestic environment.

Hi Chris, Thanks for that. Was unaware of their over damping as the only audio type forum I frequent is here. Good to know.

A friend of mind bought the Dali's about six weeks ago and is absolutely delighted by them...if that opinion's any good for you (I haven't listened to them yet), he recommends them highly

That's great news Robbie. I imagine you'd be demoing a few in the shops and then borrowing the favourite for a home trial. Always best to hear a new item of hi-fi in your room with your system.

I was looking for some stand mounters a while back and first stop was Polk and Dali. Both terrific, but really different. When I got them home I liked neither! I ended up waiting for the financial year to end and the resultant sales. A pair of ex-dem Mission 781 were available locally. I didn't like them much in the shop but took them home anyway for a listen because they were half price. Ended up sounding really great at home. So I agree with the above comments: listen at home and choose what you like!

My problem is that there is no place in Cork that does Hi-Fi Cry
As far as I can work out, there are 2 or 3 shops in Dublin which is a good 300Km away and they won't do loans. So this will be a case of research, research and try and glean as much information as possible if they are a bit left field or else pick up a known quantity. Bit of a PITA but there you go.
I have resigned myself to not being able to get a pair of speakers this side of Christmas purely because of the options and research needed.
