Picked up my Reflex from the post office this morning.
I am going to explain this in a totally non- technical way, and just try to explain my findings in a basic way ( because im not technical
Unplugged my faithful Bridge
I know i shouldnt have listened to it straight out of the box,, but,,, !
I played Thomas Dolby- Flat Earth- Dissidents
WHERE DID THE BASS PLAYER COME FROM !!
The bass has always been a little , erm, flabby, which i had put down to myPMC OB 1`s being transmission line and my room not being that big
Im now hearing EXACTLY what the bass player is doing !
I can hear the backing singers totally independently
I can also hear the guitarist`s rhythm work which i never notived before, i mean i heard the guitar part before, but now i fully understand it.
Im going to leave it alone for a while and go back to it this eveing
I will keep you updated, but so far the improvements are huge

Hi Stuxter, good you received it and yes it's a very good sounding PPA.
Curieus about what model you have:
the Reflex Green with SMPS wallwart or the Reflex with PSU1?
If you do have the PSU1, it's best sounding result can be picked, after sufficient burn-in off course, by trying the 8-figure connector on the powerlead boths ways around.
Fine listenings Han

Im lost for words !!!!!!
every track i listen to is so involving, it feels like ive listened to an entire album
the sound i now have is much much more than i ever expected.
i feel the reflex has brought out the very best in the system i have put together.
ive reached my hi-fi NIRVANA
my journey is complete.

So choosing the right phono stage should now be simply a Reflex action ?
Just gotta refresh myself on that Talk Talk album - been pigging out on classical today. Recently acquired Neville Marriner/Alan Loveday AStMiF Vivaldi 4 Seasons, reputedly one of the classic performances - certainly enjoyed that. Glad you are enjoying it ![]() Edited by tg - 18 May 2008 at 8:04am |
