A very interesting article on attempts to measure and quantify the effects of "break-in"  of headphones, written by the guy who started Headrooom many years ago..follow this link and be prepared to have some preconceptions rattled!Shocked

If one makes the assumption that the Q701 tested are essentially the same as the K701, then those results are pretty much as I would expect from my own experience of the K701.

For me I was not happy with those until they had 4 times that many hours on them and had had a severe flogging along the way.

An interesting and apparently well conducted test nonetheless and thanks for the link.

Tyll the author has been in the headphone business for a long time. I have met him a few times and is a very funny and nice guy who has gained a lot of credibility. I see what the charts show but IMO the break in is more noticeably than indicated, however I do agree that if the sound out of the box is not to your liking no amount of burn-in will make you like the cans.
