    Posted: 20 Mar 2013 at 11:04pm
hi there to everyone
Is upgrading the cable from mains plug to power supply ( 240v side figure 8 plug ) on my psu 1 a good idea or would there be not much effect.
I have a clearer audio alpha cable spare which I could use.
thanks for any views on this matter.

Errmm, why not just try it? What's there to lose?
I think that the further you get away from the signal the less the effect of "upgrade" cables, but I'd be interested to know if you think ther's a tangible difference.

I can't imagine the use of a shielded cable will present any problems. Perhaps others might have tried using them.
Graham has made some observations on the output cable design of the PSU1 and its "fitness for purpose" in not being unduly susceptible to interference due to the inherent low impedance of the power supply if I recall correctly. Similar principles will probably apply to the mains cables..
I wish I could find Grahams post on the subject, I'll have to do some more detailed forum searches!

thanks for your interest
think i,ll give it a whirl when I find the IEC to figure 8 adapter.
Not a bad little cable when I used it with cd player, give drums abit more punch/tightened up.
thanks again.

managed to find adapter for IEC connector to convert to figure 8 style.
attached clearer audio alpha cable with furutech connector and MK gold plated plug (cable is  non suppressed version )
fused down with the same 3 amp fuse supplied with original psu 1 cable.
had a couple of days playing music I know inside and out, although difference wasn,t night and day there is a slight dynamics change and seemingly more clout to everything, so all in all very happy indeed , and would recommend.
