Has anyone in the Forum any experience of the Audeze LCD-2 or LCD-3 headphones? I've been reading good things about them in magazine and on-line reviews but don't know any "real world" user.
In particular, it would be good to know if anyone has heard them with Graham's amplifiers

I have LCD2's and use them with a Solo ul. Tons of deep bass and great midrange detail. Big headphones so try before buying. Jon

Thanks Jon...I'll have to try to hear/try them first, I was hoping to avoid that as it's not easy here in rural France

I'd like to hear them. I read that opinions vary vs. perceived close competitors such as planar HE400/500 HE6 and dynamic hd700/800, T1, SRH1840. I own HD800 and have had a good listen to HE500. I think this is about personal preference on all the various presentation parameters and need for comfort. In terms of compatibility, my UL mk1 matches well with more cans than any other amp I have or have owned or have heard. My guess is that the DE will be even better with low impedance audeze planars.

Best

James

Thanks for the input James, I suspect you're right that the Diamond UL will be the best match. If I can get to hear some I'll post my opinions

The LCD-2 and Solo UL(DE) are well worth a listen in my opinion. It's a very clear and musical hi-fi combo, with plenty of body/bass but smooth mid and treble like very good speakers. You listen to the music rather than the equipment.

The LCD-2's are quite big and look unusual ("steam punk") so audition. In a quick AB comparison you'll feel there's missing HF, but it is there just less emphasised than some headphones.

I have the LCD-2's than came out a few months before they issued version 2. I have used them with my stereo amp's main output and they go ridiculously loud when fed several watts, i.e. you can listen to them across the room. Much louder than I want to listen to hi-fi headphones. Also I use the LCD-2's to mix tracks/songs using the multitracker's headphone output.

After a brief respite from the purchasing end of  " the hobby, " I am again trying to decide between the "3" and the "X"  Made all the more difficult because there will be no chance to audition either Shocked they're just not in the stores here. My hunch is that the 3 is holding its own as the "considered" flag ship after an initial outpouring of headphone lust towards the "X"...I'm so confused
