    Posted: 24 Jun 2012 at 3:02pm
Hello everyone,LOL

I've been enjoying my Solo UL very much for nearly a yearTongue, knowing that the diamond is the newest and top of the series I hope someone in the knows would give me suggestion as to what is the best to do? Shall I buy the diamond and sell the old one second handCry? What are the improvements of the diamond over it predecessor? Will there be any official upgrade scheme for users like me?Clap

Best Regards,

lapkwan.

All DIY and factory upgrades for the Solo are now Ultra-Linear Diamond Edition.

The ULDE (for short) is a result of much research in how to drop the output noise by a factor of 10 and at the same time increase output current directly rather than using a headphone control negative feedback loop. The Grado range of headphones would not perform to our expectations using the headphone control negative feedback. They now perform similarly to other headphones using the ULDE.

We understand that some customers can feel cheated by us improving circuits but we reserve the right to improve our products, otherwise our progress would be stifled.

Dear designer of the headphone amps,

No one who take music listening seriously will ever feel cheated by you headphone amp, at least the one I regularly use with satisfaction. BTW, I'll consider an upgrade if it does not cost a lot, would you please tell us in specific how could local and overseas customers get their upgrade? And most importantly, how much?

Many thx!

Sorry, is it 219 pounds ex Vat ? I should have checked it myself before posting the last message! But I'm here in Hong Kong (ChinaDead?), shall I arrange the upgrade with a local distributor?

Reading Graham's response has got me interested as I use Grado headphones.  Can I confirm that if I ordered the DIY Ultra Linear upgrade this would be the Diamond Editi

Option 1: Ask Mr Sun of AV2000 if they will do it. We have a shipment going to them in about 2 weeks and he could order the Diamond Edition PCB to travel with it.

Option 2: DIY - All new Solo Ultra-Linear upgrade boards are Diamond Edition spec. (this answers alanbass1 as well).

The factory upgrade is OK but there could be customs duty charges in both directions.
