I am delighted to have now received my own Elevator EXP (only three days after ordering it) along with some Cusat50 cable.
Looking forward to playing all the old favourite albums and hearing what I have been missing all this time (and, hopefully, confirming to myself that my previous comments were not just the subjective ramblings of an excitable old fool!). |

I'm sure you'll love your records via the Elevator! It'll set the sound free . .

Hi Paul, I am glad you enjoyed the loan EXP and have ordered one. The same thing happened to me and I've never regretted it!

Don't forget to leave it powered on all of the time...and allow it generous burn-in time before reaching it's best

Thank you all very much for you comments and suggestions. I know it is early days, but I am already very pleased with my purchase.
I will now allow plenty of time for things to settle in and then start to experiment, at length, with the various cartridge loading settings. I would be interested to know if anyone has observed any significant differences in performance when switching between the various loadings? Or perhaps there is already a thread somewhere on this topic, that I haven't come across yet?

I have only used mine on a single MC, and it is my understandings that some cartridges are more sensitive to loading changes than others.
From my experiences I would leave set at the recommended for your cartridge until you get used to the sound and the Elevator burns in together with your cables. Once you start to understand what sound your system is producing moving up or down should have some impact; from my experience it can sound a little to restrained/lacking focus or sharper more in focus then moves towards being a little to untamed at times. You will get yo know what suits you and your system; just remember the recommended loading may nit be what you end up with. Good luck with your great purchase. |

I've found that using too low a loading will squash the high frequencies and make the cartridge sound as dull as ditchwater. As Richard says, stick to the recommended loading for your cartridge for a while and experiment. You often see a loading recommended as being (say) >100ohms; once you go past 100 you may need to approach "wide open" (47kOhm) before you hear any real differences in SQ.
