I think that this unit was internally modified by Graham/John so that the source selection switch acts as tape monitor instead of selecting between two sources.

Tape monitor = the Solo can act as a transparent device between the source and another amp/recording machine.

In other words, input#2 actually is an output and feeds out the same signal fed into the Solo by means of input#1.

Might be handy in a studio... Almost useless, I would say, for home use.

It could be useful if you only have one really decent interconnect to get the best out of the Solo.

The description clearly states it has two stereo inputs, so it looks bog standard to me.
