Hi everyone Smile

After reading about headphone amps and the associated performance on Head-Fi over Christmas, I decided to purchase a Voyager to run my Beyer DT770Pro80's.

Whilst they technically don't need an amp, I thought why not and bought the unit.

Unfortunately for a reason yet to be determined, (But the Voyager was not at fault) the combination of Arcam CD73T source, Voyager and DT770's just didn't gel that well.

The sound was good, but there was no volume to speak of, without distortion.

After Graham and John played with my Voyager for a while, it was judged that the problem was else where in my system. However as a good will gesture they were prepared to keep my Voyager and let me have a Solo Green for a small figure extra.

I took advantage of this and collected the Voyager from Johns house one weekend. After a natter about bikes and cycling I was on my way.

Listening to the Solo after a few days running revealed a sound that I have never heard from my DT770's. The heavy bass that they are known for was tamed and the rest of the sound spectrum came accross very well and detailed.

They actually sounded to have characteristics of a good open can but still with the depth that they normally produce.

All in all I can say I am thoroughly satisfied with the set-up now*, and the service that GSP gave me was second to none.

If every manufacturing company was this good, the world would be a better place. Clap

* I say happy - I am but now I want better phones. The upgrade bug has bitten me already..  Suggestions for a headphone around £300 and under that gives an open clear and erm.. loud sound would be appreciated LOL
