The USB to micro USB has to be an OTG converter. Did you use an OTG converter? I think most of the android tablets mentioned ought to work with the app "USB Audio recorder PRO" Android has no support for USB audio. It needs a special driver for it, according to the author of USB audio recorder PRO. |

I don't know what an OTG converter is I am afraid, however the adaptor cable I have works perfectly with the Samsung Galaxy 3 and both the tablets I listed (it also works with my older FiiO USB DAC). It has a Female USB type A one end (Lautus Male USB A goes here) and a USB Micro male at the other end which goes into the tablet/phone. I already looked into "USB Audio recorder PRO" a few days ago and this apparently allows recording/playback with many Android devices but only within its own software: http://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.extreamsd.usbaudiorecorderpro&hl=en_GB ...."Warning: this is not a generic driver, you can only playback and record from within this app. It is not possible to use your USB audio device with other apps!...." In other words another music programme There may be a clue as to why many tablets don't work here: http://source.android.com/accessories/audio.html Audio over USB....you should decide if your accessory will use Universal Serial Bus (USB) or a Bluetooth connection to stream music or other audio content. An accessory that connects with Android over USB connection must use the Android Open Accessory (AOA) protocol version 2.0. This version of the AOA protocol is supported on Android 4.1 (API Level 16) and higher. Once an Android device connects to an accessory that supports this protocol, the Android system treats it as a standard audio output device and routes all audio to that accessory. No secondary software application is required on the Android device. Note: Due to the low power output of Android devices, the Android Open Accessory Protocol requires that accessories act as a USB host, which means that the connecting accessory must power the bus. I could only conclude that maybe on the tablet devices that did work, the HDMI-out was enabling the tablet to recognise the external DAC. Maybe the others either needed power from the USB DAC or this AOA protocol 2.0? I am not technically qualified so my guesses are just that, sorry |

I need something like this, I think.
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-3-0-Portable-1080p-HDMI-HD-TV-Media-Player-w-OTG-/230600858801 Although it's not battery powered and it's not clear whether the manufacturer is even trustworthy. Edited by Nuance_Ember - 08 Dec 2013 at 5:19pm |

I have had no trouble with using the Bitzie from my Windows 8 laptop. Immediate recognition and switchover. I'm wondering if any Windows smartphones out there have OTG USB which would allow use of the Bitzie.
