I have a Majestic and a Solo Ultra Linear. Already thought they sounded amazing but just discovered 'Exclusive Mode' in Tidal and completely blew my mind, again.
Got me wondering what difference a stand-alone streamer would make, searched but surprisingly couldn't find much info on the forums. Recommendations please.

Raspberry Pi c/w e.g. HiFiBerry Digi+ Pro, running MoOde or Volumio software, into your Majestic.

A number of us here have Squeezebox Touch players. Mine sounded glorious through Graham's workshop rig when I visited a year or two ago.

Wow! Super quick response, thanks. I'll check them out.
Is USB or S/PDIF recommended with the Majestic (https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/battle-of-s-pdif-vs-usb-which-is-better.1943/)?

S/PDIF coax for the Squeezebox Touch. The Touch handles 24/96 by default, but there's an applet you can install called EDO, which means it becomes capable of playing 24/192 files natively. Toslink is 24/96. The USB on the Majestic handles Windows defaults for bit depth and sample rate. It's possible to run the Squeezebox Touch as a standalone player, but it runs best as a client when you run server on another machine. I run my server (LMS) on a RasPi, and my local digital library resides on a NAS elsewhere in the house. It's all cabled up. I've used all three main streaming content providers (Spotify, Tidal and Qobuz), and they all work well. |

Would the main benefit of a stand-alone streamer compared to direct from a Mac Mini be the ability to use S/PDIF and unlock 192kHz 24 bit on the Majestic?
Would I be able to play MQA through the Majestic? Is hi-res a benefit? Two knowledgeable people arguing for and against respectively:
