Don't think I'm going to be lucky to have an old circuit, well done though, there's nothing like a job well done by yourself. Edited by mitch65 - 30 Mar 2013 at 11:07am |

I'm no expert on building regs - just making the point that they apply to these kinds of works. We wouldn't want this forum to create the impression that a dedicated hi-fi circuit is generally possible as a DIY job, would we?
(Yes there are non-notifiable exceptions, congrats to the OP if he has found one)

O how we love part P.
I, once an instal engineer, am not allowed to do any mains wiring, although I understand it better than some qualified electricians. Isn't it great when a trade can lobby parliament for protection whilst others are ignored... I'm all for safety having worked with Kema Quality BV to obtain a CB certificate for our PSU1... Even so, I don't have the piece of paper to do mains electrical wiring... "I could while away the hours, conferrin' with the flowers Consultin' with the rain. And my head I'd be scratchin' while my thoughts were busy hatchin' If I only had a brain. I'd unravel every riddle for any individ'le, In trouble or in pain. With the thoughts you'll be thinkin' you could be another Lincoln If you only had a brain. Oh, I could tell you why The ocean's near the shore. I could think of things I never thunk before. And then I'd sit, and think some more. I would not be just a nothin' my head all full of stuffin' My heart all full of pain. I would dance and be merry, life would be a ding-a-derry, If I only had a brain." Shall have to go and ask the Wizard for a diploma! ![]() |

Greg, I think any alterations to the fixed wiring has to be undertaken by a competent person. By that I understand it to mean a qualified electrician registered for part P.
