Unless one of us wins the lottery, this kind of setup will remain a fantasy:

A certain manufacturer of valve amplifiers makes a valve mono poweramplifier
that outputs 600 watts @ 8 ohm in tetrode mode (300 watts in triode mode).
Each one is powered by 15 valves.
Under full load the power consumption is listed as 1300 watts.

B&W's Nautilus speaker is a quad-amped speaker, meaning a pair has to be driven by either four stereo power amplifiers
or eight mono blocks (four for each speaker).

Imagine a setup with a pair of Nautilus speakers driven by eight of those 600 watt valve mono blocks.
Total power consumption will reach a whopping 10.4 kilowatts.

Now, the question is: can the electrical wiring of a standard household withstand such a current draw?
Is special wiring needed for such a setup?
The fuses in the house or apartment will most likely blow as soon as you turn on those eight mono blocks, yes?

Any other concerns or issues that might arise from this configuration?

There is also the heat to worry about, produced by a total of
8 x 15 valves = 120 valves. That would be one hot room requiring some serious air conditioning.

Yes, easily could draw 1.5 kW each, but how often are all those units on at the same time?
I am not sure, but eight mono blocks that draw a total of 10.4 kW sounds excessive.
Hopefully my electric wiring will manage, one day when I am rich enough for such a setup.
Wink

how many criminals pedalling bicycles hooked up to dynamos would it take to power such a setup? say you were to use athletic joy rider types rather than laundering banker type criminals..

set it up in scotland and solve your overheating problem. plus a plentiful source of cycling power..

Electrical shower circuit? What's that? Let's hear more about that solution. Sounds interesting. Is it really necessary for the kind of setup I suggested?
