I have had news from JC himself that I am expecting, so to speak… my Accession is almost ready (I’m like a kid in shoe shop… wait, that’s not right) and I have ordered the Enigma to boost my joy.
As this is my first decent phono stage, and my first GS product - I can’t imagine John doesn’t include a comprehensive set of instructions and guidelines - but I wonder if anyone has any pro’ tips?
Should I leave it switched on for the first three months, do I need sunglasses when unboxing, can exposure to audio excellence make me blind?
Any personal experiences and tips greatly appreciated.

Leave it powered on 24/7.

Is it MM or MC and what cartridge are you using?

The manual is good. I'd stick with the RIAA setting till you're used to the preamp. But do check your cartridge's recommended load as the MM version lers you add more capacitance if needed. What cartridge do you use?

The sound will develop during burn-in for a couple days and mature within a week or two.

Thank you. May I suggest setting the Accession to add 100pF using the coloured switches on the back. And try 0pF as a comparison, go with your preferred sound.

Start using it immediately and leave it powered 24/7.
It'll sound great from the off.

Congratulations Thumbs Up

I am so often in awe of the level of knowledge that people (like you all) have, just knocking around on the periphery of your daily life and are able to recall at a whim and help people (like me) with a need for guidance and understanding. Thank you to everyone for all your support.

over 30 years ago I had a Mini, a Pioneer head-set and a pair of 3-ways that I managed to shoehorn into the rear shelf… I then acquired a power amp for more than the car was worth and turned my little green, four wheeled ‘objet’ into a thing of wonderment… I am only a few hours into my Accession and can only suggest that the musical revelation (that friends still recall) has returned: this little item of gorgeousness is the audio equivalent of taking wax soaked cotton wool out of your ears after removing the mufflers beneath your hat - if I have a couple of weeks before the true sound emerges, I am stunned, so far it’s been like unblocking my ears after a dive, opening my eyes after a storm - I can’t believe what I’ve been missing, and i can’t believe there’s yet more to hear. Every penny worth.
