Sorry, I didn't mean to mislead you into thinking that I have a professional career into audio engineering. I have an education in the sciences but I am not any kind of skilled engineer with a career.
I guess in reality, I am what Graham would probably call a "bedroom wannabe"... What I mean is that from my listening experiences, I would select an ER-4S over a HD250 if I wished to produce professional work of my own. (Anyone can be a musician if they desire) Why this choice? Well compared the HD250, the ER-4S IEMs are equally sonically transparent, physically smaller, much lighter in weight, simpler to maintain/clean, offer more isolation from external noise and permit significantly less sound leakage due to lower volume and seal in ear. Proximity to ear will also allow you to hear even the tiniest microdetails in recordings.
