Taking your recommendation and listening to Jeff Beck's Guitar shop for the first time.  I greatly admire his playing, though the music is always challenging to me.  Luckily saw him once at the Shepherds Bush Empire.

Simon, have you had chance to listen to Jeff Beck's first album, Truth? I still think this is an outstanding album, showcasing  Beck's soulful guitar work and giving a totally different viewpoint to Rod Stewart as a blues singer.  Ol' Man River has them together at their best, IMHO.
I came across a s/h copy of Beck with Jan Hammer Live, and rate this recording with a different jazz/rock style.
I looked at getting to see Beck on tour next year but with tickets starting at something like £80 (in Sheffield) I decided to give it a miss.

The music I am listening too is going back in time rather than forward.
The art of mastering seems to be lost with most of the new vinyl produced and of course a lot is from a digital source.

My band of the year is The Doobie Brothers. Listen to "Living on the Fault Line" or "Minute by Minute" or "Toulouse Street". Incredible.

I think Jeff Beck's music has changed over the years particularly the tones he now gets. He did a gig at Ronnie Scotts which I think is on YouT**e, worth a watch IMHO.
What triggered my, not very original thought, was "Day in the House" (Guitar Shop, 1989) and "Oil" (Loud Hailer, 2016), similar message same sentiment, 27 years apart. Just one example.

I think I have Truth in a group of cd's and need to listen to it.  I read that after Beck and Rod Stewart went their separate ways, Beck said that he never found another singer good enough.

I agree about those £80 + concerts. Though I missed seeing Gary Moore (and of course regret it) as he always seemed to be at the Albert Hall with similar prices.
