"Sniffin' Glue is often incorrectly credited as the source of the illustration featuring drawings of three guitar chord shapes, captioned, 'this is a chord, this is another, this is a third. Now form a band'; this drawing actually originally appeared in January 1977 in another fanzine, Sideburns..." (Wikipedia) Mind you, some people felt that three chords were altogether too many... |

The radio station this side was called XFM they are now called Radio X but I still can't remember the USA, New York stations name. Rapture disbanded in 2014. I use to like listening to the New York's station as I found out about a lot of new music from them, but most at the time I didn't know how to get hold. I did once email the station and they did get back to me and told me I could get the Rapture's new album in England and even told me where I get hold of a copy, That was HMV. I was new to the internet at the time and didn't really know how to use it to the full.

I do remember this band from the early 2000s because I had some friends that were fans. Haven't heard any of their music in a long time though.

ah yes, remember fear of men, saw them a few times. from brighton, no?
did a great cover version of the chills song doledrums live iirc the irish ones i mentioned fontaines aside are all at the noisier end of the spectrum with a lot of dissonance but give the phantom band a go, their first few albums checkmate savage & the wants are great (coincidentally the wants is the name of another new band that i rather like that have spun off from bodega) will check out that swedish band

Indie isn't really a genre when you get down to it, though I guess some record companies tried to make it such with "fake indie rock" bands like the Strokes or whatever. I'm not up much on the current indie scene as it takes a lot of work to find anything I like. I think the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s were a fruitful time for indie music. Most of the band's you mentioned I've not heard, except Fontaines DC who didn't impress me much on their first album. Haven't heard the latest stuff. A few years ago there was a group called Fear of Men that I liked a lot. Their first album, Loom, was solid IMHO. The follow-up was a lot more experimental and not as immediate. Not sure if they are still together. Also Vanna Inget from Sweden, who started out more as a punk-ish type band and gradually got more melodic. Their album Ingen Botten was one of my favorites in recent years. The latest one was also great but took time to grow on me. I hope they keep making music for awhile.
