Does anyone here have a Rega turntable with a Rega tonearm and a tape measure?
I’ve just had my RB1000 rewired and now need to refit it to my Manticore Mantra turntable. I’ve previously used this combination with the arm lifted 8mm by a Rega VTA Arm Height Adjuster. Putting it all back together the arm looks a bit low, but I could wrong. I’ve searched the interweb for guidance, but am struggling to find anything to tell me how high the arm should be. It occurred to me that if someone here has a Rega TT with a Rega arm they might be willing to measure and let me know how high the top of the platter is above the plinth. With this information I should be able to work out the total height of shims I need.

The correct height is where the arm is parallel to the record when in play. You'll just have to keep taking it out - adding (or taking away) shims - putting it back etc, until you get there.
The design is typically British - just think how British Leyland production line workers felt - and before you know it, you'll have finished the job!

Yes Ifor, I think I can help if it's not too urgent. I've got a P3-24 stored upstairs and will measure the height of the platter in the next few days. However, my practical advice would be the same as Graham's, to do it by trial and error. With a tapering arm tube I'd work off the top of the headshell being level if that helps.

Best to do it by eye, as the effective height varies between cartridges. From my Audiomods arm (Rega based) with AT 150 cart, the underside of the arm tube should be about 8mm above the platter surface. Yours may be different, but it's a starting point.
Happy fiddling Ian

Thanks Ian. I’ll have a go, but might resort to professional help.
