We used to have some phono plugs that went "baggy" on the outer contact due to some sockets being of slightly different diameter. That meant the ground side didn't make contact. I'm not saying that's the problem here, but we used to squeeze in the phono plug outside contact (yes, sometimes we over cooked it ... ouch!) but then everything made good contact.

All our input grounds (commons) go direct to case ground, but on some integrateds that's isolated at the input which might allow a floating ground on one channel to work. It looks like a floating ground.

Then again, the floating ground might not be the phono plug's fault. This can happen if a ground pin connector to the cartridge comes off, or comes loose or the wire gets broken inside the crimp.

By chance are the RCA connectors on the amp and the Reflex slightly different sizes? Have you inspected or tested the Rega RCA cable plug to see if anything is off?

Thanks so much! You mad geniuses!! Fixed!

The Rega RCA connect just needed a bit of squeeze to be made a bit tighter. So simple! So easy! Thanks everyone for your smarts.

Now to get back to the records...
