hi all,
After loving my Project XPerience paired with an Elevator Exp and Era Gold X with an Ortofon MC Quintet Bronze, I've bitten the bullet and bought a new turntable, a Michell Gyrodec with Ortofon 2M Black. I was wondering which phonostage would work best, any thoughts appreciated.

Welcome. You could run the 2m directly into the Era gold? Is your cartridge choice away from moving coil a deliberate and permanent one? If the latter you could move on the Elevator or keep if it may be needed again?
Assuming it is you could try the Accession MM? Which arm are you pairing with on the Gyro?

Hi Richard, the Gyro comes with a tecnoarm. Looking at the original boxes the era gold says 'reflex C MC Phono stage on its side, would it still be compatible? Thanks.

Hi Phil, welcome from me too.
I assume that your phono says ERA Gold on the front panel, which is why it needs the Elevator to work with the Quintet Bronze MC cartridge. I would guess that the box has been swopped at some time. The ERA Gols is MM only and will work well connected directly to your new Ortofon 2M Black. Happy Listening Ian

certainly sounds like the era gold V, if you have Ben using through the elevator. Would suggest using that And see how you get on
When the itch starts you can always try the reflex m or accession m on the loan scheme. I have preferred to keep Changes limited to properly access an item to judge its impact otherwise later on you may not know quite what impact your TT, arm cartridge or phono stage made. |
