Hi

I'm using the 'old' Solo with Sennheiser HD800. What brand and type of cable is advised to connect the Sol with the (pre)amp?

Thanks,

X

Some will say to buy this or that brand of interconnect, sadly some of those recommendations could cost well over a thousand pounds. Personally I would go with a pair of Cusat that Graham sells specially if you are in Great Britain or the EU. If you are elsewhere the offering by Blue Jean Cable may make more sense specially if in the USA.

I say this because depending on where you are and from whom you buy you could save on import duty taxes and have shorter transit times. Good luck.

Untill now I used a cheap Vandenhul cable, but sound with the HD800 and Solo was too 'thin'. Replaced it with a self made cable (local higend dealer) which was much better ('fatter' sound).

So it seems that the type of cable makes a (big) difference when it comes to headphone amps...

Which Solo do you use:
What year?, what color led?, with PSU1 or wallwart?

What is the source you do use?

RE: Xaverius,

IMHO, upgrade to PSU1 first. That could be more rewarding than changing cable at this stage.

Hi

Meanwhile I have the new Solo SRG and PSU1. Makes a big difference indeed.
Ordered the Stefan Audio Art Endorphin cable.

Totally agree with Darren on this. Stefan Audio's cable for HD600/650/800 enjoyed a good reputation for a long long time.

By the way, Xaverius, you probably will have to endure/enjoy a considerable burt-in period because all units in your system requre some burt-in time. Solo SRG, Stefan Audio cable, and HD800, each of which carrys a tag says: burt-in time no less than 500 hours for optimal performance ^_^
