About 1am our workshop moved slightly. There are reports of earth tremors all over the UK.

What actually happened was a tectonic plate shift 15km (10 miles) under Lincolnshire countryside (70 miles away from here). Although it measured 4.7-5.2 on the Richter scale, being that far underground, it didn't cause severe damage, but along with the high winds probably was the final straw for a Barnsley chimney which fell and injured a sleeping child.

Hi Graham, I saw it on the morningnews on TV.
Glad it wasn't too bad, mostly people were shocked and surprised, as I understand it.
Good luck, Han

I was rudely awakened at 1.00 am by a massive bang followed by the whole house shaking amazingly. My wife slept serenely on ( she wears ear plugs because she claims I snore ! ) so I felt it only right to wake her so she could share my fearWink! My 16 year old daughter also slept through it!

No damage found yet. We are about 30 miles or so from the epicentre!

Adrian.
