Great singer (of gutsy R&B as well as psychedelia/prog), great pianist, great songwriter, great frontman/raconteur RIP. Another of the elders gone. I'm sure I'm not alone in loving Homburg at least as much as the rightly-venerated Whiter Shade Of Pale - and A Salty Dog as least as much as either...

Side-note: Procol Harum were the first band I ever went to see live (Nottingham Uni, November '73 - I'd have been 15) - tho' technically the first band I ever saw were Hatfield And The North, who were the support. Hatfield were fine, Procol outstanding. Saw them again at the Uni in March '75, then persuaded most of my 6th form to see them at Nottingham Albert Hall (yes, it does exist!) supported by fellow late-lamented Southender Viv Stanshall in January '76 - still one of the most memorable gigs I've ever seen...Wink Sadly, by February '77 (Hammersmith Odeon) the spark had gone.

For those interested in Gary and the PH saga, this officially-endorsed fansite is an exemplar of its kind:  https://procolharum.com/ - https://procolharum.com/

Only just picked up on this. Very sad news and another strand of my childhood gone.
