Hi guys,

I have a Kenwood KT7500 tuner that has a noise(when it feels like it) coming from the opamp(traced the signal path before it and it goes away). My question is are there other op-amps that will take the place of the http://www.kynix.com/components/RC4558P-Dual-General-Purpose-Operational-Amplifier-CAD-Models-Datasheet-Features.html - RC4558P that is there without modifying anything? When changing these, is there bias' that must be checked? Sorry, if I could get the concept of electronics into my head I wouldn't ask questions I guess. Thanks.

I think I'd be inclined to just replace like for like. Without understanding the associated circuit and component, similar op-amps may work but perhaps not optimally. Is the noise on both channels, could it be an associated resistor or capacitor, rather than the opamp? For the cost it's worth swopping for a new one if you're confident with a soldering iron.

Just listen, if it sounds good to you, enjoy it.
