Are we Green?

We were one of the first hi-fi manufacturers to successfully use low energy switched-mode power supplies - remember the "Green Solo" from 2007?

From the very start, almost two decades before the Covid19 work from home, we set up our workshops at our own homes, so they share light, heat and the small amount of power used due to hand-making every order.

Business travel is limited to one or two drop-offs and collections each week, using low energy vehicles. My MPV uses AdBlue turning 85% of emissions to nitrogen and water.

Meetings are held on Skype - there is no commute.

We source locally wherever possible. Inevitably electronic components come from countries like China, but these are tiny components, not sub-assemblies or complete products, like most brands.

We don't waste resources by adding unnecessary weight to our products, plus we are WEEE registered.

From November 2020, our website and forum are served by solar-powered servers with Tesla overnight batteries.

Having said the above, the downside is that anybody who's involved in electronics is simply not "green", and if they claim so, they are bare faced liars.

Everything, right down to the nuts and bolts that hold it together, is made by fire and fossilised substances.

I am not going to try and educate you here, the Internet, when interrogated through appropriate search terms, begrudgingly yields the truth, at least for now.

What I was going to say, but couldn’t, is why beat yourself up for not being green now? Surely you would be if the primary energy source wasn’t fossil fuels. That’ll take some time to change, but it’s where governments’ focus should be.

Some people are ambidextrous, but I'm ambiguous ;-)

Ambiguity is worse than dyslexia, in that ambiguity is the dyslexia of the sum of what you say.

It's described quite well in the second verse of Led Zeppelin's Stairway to Heaven, except my identity pronoun is he, just in case another ambiguity should creep in.

I am not beating myself up (nor anybody else).

I am trying to open the minds of others about reality - minds that seem to be completely shut - a difficult task indeed.

In my opinion, this whole green thing is being abused, and has become a big lie, and its effect on creativity is hugely damaging. It has become about the removal of freedom to continue to pursue anything worthwhile. And all because they have no answers, only dressed-up alternatives which hide exactly the same consequences.
