Dear forum friends, Can anyone provide details of the cable length from supply to phono stage in inches or cm's? I have read that the supply is best off a rack altogether, is this true?

Yes, 1.5m/5 ft.

Best situated on floor off rack because all mains transformers vibrate at mains frequency, and vibration is transmitted through structures, and phono cartridges thus excited can sometimes turn the vibration back into an electrical signal and produce hum, although it might be minor, and maybe not noticeable. It is worth doing.

I fully agree, Graham, which is why my TT is on a separate wall mounted shelf.

There are no transformers, mains or otherwise, on that support.
TT - offboard PSU
Tonearm leadout cable, long enough to not have to stretch it out tight and it become a vibrational transferral mechansim.
Reflex M/PSU1 - on a different support structure.

Thankyou for your replies. I think 1.5m is a perfect length. Too long may also be a problem for some.

Only too long if the phono stage is also on the floor... Wink

People do odd things with their equipment such as stacking & going without any racks at all. Even high end gear is sometimes misused in this way.

"Only too long if the phono stage is also on the floor... Wink" which would probably mean very long turntable dropleads or the turntable on the floor. Dead

That writ, I have my Proprius amps on long legs (those M3 hex spacers also used in computers, here ensuring carpet clearance for air flow round the amps) on the floor next to my speakers.
