During the setup of my room & speakers I purchased & used this to accurately measure the listening room, speaker & listening positions, & for room null calculation tools. It has been invaluable, not least that since retiring I have been working on several DIY projects as well ('normal' intended use). Aim the laser dot & take a reading (default includes the length of the device so place the rear against the surface to measure from).
