Now Prince too has left us and joined that great gig in the sky. Only 57 years old, RIP.

Great live version of Purple Rain by Gregory Porter to close the Chris Evans breakfast show on Radio 2 this morning by way of tribute.

Never really a fan and don't own anything by Prince but back in 2011 he headlined a festival I attended - I must say that his performance was simply incredible, one of the best I have ever seen. After several hours & 3 or 4 encores, well into the small hours, I set off for my car and he was still playing as I sat there with the windows open waiting for him to finally finish !

Respect

Sad news. The only"good" thing to come out of it is that at work Radio 1 has been playing some of his hits this morning rather than the usual stuff that isn't too my liking (to put it mildly).

He passed me by completely; I don't think I know anything by him. Maybe it's time to get to know some.

I was never into Prince either and to be honest haven't heard a lot save for the big hits. But perhaps this is a good time to see what I might well have been missing out on all along.

I was and still am a fan of his music. I have played quite a bit of it over the last few days. 57 is way too young.
