Hi all, Thought I'd introduce myself :) I'm Chris, a mature student currently studying Environmental Science. At the tail end of last year I purchased some new audio kit - Some B&W 685 S2 speakers, a Marantz PM6005 amp, and then a couple of Months later, a Rega RP3 TT with the Rega TT PSU. The Rega is the first TT I've owned, and I have been more than happy running it through the Marantz integrated phono stage, but I knew that it probably wasn't all that great compared to some stand alone pre-amps. After a lot of research and being an old electronics student, I came across the DAK Genera kit and went ahead and ordered one! I got started with the build on Monday night and after a couple of hours it was complete. Positioning the LED was a fiddly task, and the legs got a bit mangled in the process. I'm still waiting on a phono cable to arrive before I can test it, but I powered it up earlier to check the LED works (and it does!) :D so that's a good sign I suppose. I've attached some photos below for those interested. Once I've given it a test I'll update this post :D Regards, Chris      |

Thanks guys. Not as tidy on the solder side as I'd like - I had to use a very cheap set of clippers which, as you can expect, didn't cut. More like a crimp followed by a pull - Slightly worried that this might have pulled on the joints and made a dodgy connection somewhere but I won't know until I can test it tomorrow. Cheers, Chris

Thanks Ian, Finally got the chance to test the Genera out today. I've only had it playing for an hour or so but I can hear an immediate difference over my Marantz integrated phono stage. There seems to be more detail getting extracted, basses sound improved but hard to explain how... more depth and an almost 'silkier' sound to them. I think vocals show the biggest difference for me, and the overall balance through the frequency range seems better, too. Regards, Chris
