I may be swayed for Saturday if anyone else is... Even though it's pretty far for me.

I'm there on Saturday, as is one other member I know. We'll be meeting up in the Queen preview and probably take a pint in the Bar afterwards. You're more than welcome to join us if you wish.

It is tempting... Although I looked again and realised it's a 2hr 30 drive!

It's not going to happen now. I was allowed to buy new speakers today so I can't justify tomorrow.
Enjoy guys!

Glad to hear you've been able to find some new speakers. Now comes the arduous task of running them in!!!!

Cheers BiB. I know, it's going to be such a strain. I tried many different types of music last night and it all sounds good. The cleanness of vocals is great!

Are you going to post show updates back here?

Not sure what we can post at the moment since it will be a post about other manufactures products.
However I will write up some stuff about the Queen launch and the Mike Valentine lecture and if Graham is ok a picture of the £60K speaker that looks remarkably like a patio heater missing its hood.
Overall I think and I was disappointed this year.
I did not get tot he Decent Audio room to see if there was any GSP audio gear but Origin Live were using an GSP Elevator again.
(Edit Mike Valentine not Laurence)

Like Steve, I'm not sure what to post, apart from being quite underwhelmed by most of the offerings. Whilst Hotel rooms and suites are not the easiest spaces to set up in, I'm surprised that the seasoned show exhibitors do not even have some basic room treatment; After all the idea is to show off their equipment in the best possible way. The Queen preview was very disappointing from a sound quality perspective. The vinyl may well be very good and managed to shine in a few tracks, but there was a lack of synergy in the equipment used. Just goes to prove that throwing together the best that the "Big Names" can provide doesn't guarantee a good system. I didn't spot any GSP gear in Decent Audio's room in the morning.

How could they call themselves "Decent Audio" without any GSP gear? Maybe they should rename themselves mediocre audio...
Isn't the rule GSP first only when Graham makes similar products (e.g. amps, phono stages, etc) but, no problem if GSP don't make them (e.g. speakers, TTs, etc)? Maybe pictures of the latter type will be ok (mods please correct me if I'm wrong)...?
Speakers that look stranger than the £55k B&W Nautilus, could such a thing really be possible??

Artistically the Nautilus is an interesting shape unlike the Patio Heater.
..I will say though that the Patio heater on the end of a couple of £32K Valve amps with large pop bottle sized valves sounded pretty good.
There is a smaller more useful version and realistically ( ) priced pair for £16K

Ok here is the £60K speaker, SWMBO says no.
Is actually a ommni directional speaker.

I will try and get a better version of the image.

I agree about the Nautilus being art. I like to think of them as snails on nitrous. Sounded good too from what I remember... They need a different power amp for each driver though so you end up with 8 amps for one pair of speakers.
You're right, pig ugly! Did you sell it right so SWMBO thought the £16k ones were a bargain?

Yes, I would agree that in the context of the show they were one of the best sounding. There were some acoustic panels evident and perhaps the omni-directional design is better able to cope with the room acoustics. Certainly a very dynamic sound with deep, deep bass.
I think my impressions of the show were really adversely coloured by the poor presentation of the Queen vinyl.

I returned home yesterday from 3 weeks holiday and talked with one of my friends who visited this show. When he arrived, there were already a lot of people leaving and his overall impression was pretty negative, especially considering the entry cost.
I have been to the Cranage show a couple of times as it is near to my home and also has free entry. I must say this seems very well attended and there are some very good demos (especially 2014 when GSP exhibited)
