It is great to hear you are hoping to run a number of shows as I won't be able to make the south Yorkshire one. I am out of the country on that day.

I hope your new improved web site and additional road shows result in many new customers.

There's nothing to stop you obtaining a season-ticket pass in case you can attend another venue?

I'm booked in already - thanks.Big smile

I've booked a pass now. I can't promise I'll make the northern roadshow in April but the pass is valid for any roadshow throughout 2015 right?

Graham,
Are you sending out passes to those who've booked for 2015? I submitted my details some time ago but haven't received anything ... Confused

Passes being printed now.

There was a bit of a delay due to other pressures.

All passes booked to date should be received by/on Monday.

Good question.

I was thinking about the Crown Plaza in Marlow (Bucks) sometime in late June.

If we can organise Marlow it should be on the 28th June.

Marlow is convenient for me too but 28th June happens to be my mother's 90th birthday and there's a big family gathering to celebrate the occasion. Venue's booked and I don't think it would go down too well if I suggested the location be changed and the event moved across the county boundary into Buckinghamshire to the Crowne Plaza.

Pass received, thanks Graham.

Hope all goes well for the first show. I can't make Marlow either if it's 28th-ish June as I should be propping-up the Greek economy then. Oh well, I'll hope for a date later in the year.

Good luck Thumbs Up

I am unable to do the 19th July so it looks like the consensus for the two delegates from the Vale of White Horse GSP brigade is the 12th July!

Don't say I never go out of my way to please....

I shall try to book a venue for the 12th July. It may take some doing, but I will do my best.

That leaves the South West road show to organise for the 28th June...

Hopefully that will not conflict.

I'm trying to avoid the six week school holiday period because of the traffic log-jams and places being booked-up solid.

Northern (north of here, that is) road shows will have to be September onwards, and not clash with the Cranage and National shows.

@RichW, apologies - missed yours. As a failsafe the autoresponder email asks:

"If your pass does not arrive within 14 days, please reply to this email and tell us."

I sent out most passes much later that 14 days - more like 28 - good test - nobody replied Wink

I will now print yours and the others received over the past 24 hours and nip round to the postbox.

I'm going to try and bring someone with me to the Marlow roadshow on July 12, now would he be needing a personal pass as well and if so how far in advance will it have to be booked?
Given that you need to book a pass in advance in order to attend will there mostly be just forum members there? I'm just thinking; wouldn't it perhaps be a good idea to make it somewhat more accessible so as to attract as many potential new customers as possible?

Road shows are for all, but some hotels like to see delagate passes. It also helps us to know who's who.

Therefore a pass can be booked anytime before the road show event - preferably as early as possible to help us plan.

I was at the Roadshow from 11:30 for about an hour. Although I have a Graham Slee system (Majestic, Proprius, Solo ULDE and cables) I wanted to hear how loud the demo system was playing, I have moved from 250watt mono blocks to Graham's Proprius and I've been reluctant to turn them up. On entering the hotel demo room my question was answered, they were playing louder than I would ever want.
It was good to put names and faces together and have a chat with like minded people.

The thread had some major disruption.

The reason for the title will possibly become clear in a subsequent posting of mine somewhere on page 4 or it could be 5 - I haven't wrote it yet, but will have by the time you read this... maybe Wink

The original post now follows...

Unfortunately, because of numbers, or the lack of them, It might have to happen later in the year, if numbers can be increased that is.

All-in, last year's cost £4,000, or £100 per head. To date this year it's roughly £250 per head. Being a "cottage industry" concern the money in-effect comes out of my back pocket, in other words, I took £4,000 less in earnings to do last year's (and I'm in a very similar earnings league as most people reading this).

The UK HiFi industry in general isn't doing too well of late, in fact, with one or two exceptions (and I mean just one or two), it has been doing rather badly with many companies reporting (to company house) considerable losses in earnings since 2012-2013. In one case a rather large well-established HiFi distributor and brand owner has seen its £5m company worth in 2010 decimated to £0.6m in 2013, and is having to resort to overdraft borrowing of £0.25m.

I cannot tell you about the global picture as only the UK is transparent regarding its businesses.

We did a lot better and actually increased our company worth in 2014 to the highest it's ever been, in fact nearly half as much as a couple of long established high performing UK HiFi companies (one a distributor - the other an amp manufacturer).

Company worth or book value, as I well know, is of little use to anybody else other than the company who owns it, and when it fails to keep up its turnover through falling sales, it's book value is shrapnel. Who else wants its stock? Vultures may offer 10% of its value.

I see the HiFi industry teetering on the edge because it and the younger consumer have failed to engage with each other. It's remaining customer base are the older generations, and at the top end? Well, nature takes its course, and that's where the industry is headed for oblivion IMO.

So, I can see fewer and fewer people are taking an interest, and that's reflected in the uptake of my roadshow offers.

For the few who took the trouble to book a pass, I'm sorry but at this time it really is a non-starter.

To answer MiT's question - that'll be no then!

Thanks Chris. I got lost in the new topic and missed the hinted answer as I'd originally only asked about the South meet.

So, apologies for being a bit wooden but, do I understand that the show proposed for Marlow on 12th July 2015 will not now go ahead on that date, but that there might be a show later in the year at a venue to be decided if there is enough interest?

I haven't thought this through properly, but I was wondering if numbers are too low to make a commercial venue viable some of us might be willing to host an open afternoon get-together. This way members who are local would have the opportunity to listen to GSP equipment in a more realistic home environment. My system (after selling my turntable) is an exclusively digitally based setup. I play digital music streamed through a squeezebox from my computer to a Majestic and Proprius GSP system and cabling to a pair of PMC Fact 8 speakers. I also have a Majestic, Solo ULDE GSP headphone system. However should Graham and/or John wish they could attend and bring a turntable and some phono stuff to add to the listening experience.

I was wondering if any other members, living in other parts of the country, might also be willing to do the same? I find it's always good to to meet other members of the forum and I am happy to volunteer if other members think it worthwhile.

That's a very generous offer from Phil and it has to be said that his house would be suit very well for such an event.  Mine wouldn't, unfortunately (and so far there's only a Reflex M in the mix).

I had proposed this idea before but it was dismissed as a poorly veiled attempt to have an extended loan of GSP goodies. I mean really.

I'm not interested in borrowing, or having an extended loan, of any equipment. Unless of course Graham brings out the preamp that he was talking about a while ago. Then I might be tempted!!

If my being GSP loan cupboard keeper is anything to go by, you'll end up buying everything you try!

I can imagine, that's why I'm pacing myself. As long as I steer clear of vinyl, I have a fighting chance...

That's a very good idea and generous offer, Phil! Such a shame I live so far from you, 'cos I'd love to hear your GSP system driving those PMCs of yours!

When our building work has finished (that's barely started ATM) I'd be happy to host very small groups or even individuals for a hi-fi session. I could envisage a network of GSP owners willing to do likewise - acting as bespoke showrooms for VIP clients; not just forum regulars, but new folk as well.
