New in the loan cupboard today are three pairs of different lengths. Please pm me your interest in borrowing. What follows is a quick review.
The GSP speaker cable is well built as I expected. The cable is solidly made and feels good in the hand with a mesh sheath around the bundled + and - cables. Gold plated 4mm plugs at both ends. John (and Graham?) has put a discreet marker (blue tape under the mesh) to show the end he recommends connecting to the amp. I thought the sound was best (more coherent) this way round.

I liked the sound of these speaker cables immediately. They share some good characteristics of my current [unnamed] cables. They are detailed but not trebly, have a good stereo image with instruments well placed in the HD recording of an oboe quartet I was listening to, and the venue's ambience was audible. Solid and fast bass, noticeably so on some electronica I played afterwards. Voices sounded natural.

Another piece of no-nonsense gear from GSP. I don't know the price but would recommend a listen if you're wanting an upgrade.

Jon, can you remind me what the cable lengths you have please? I have a feeling they'd all be too short for me (having my rack at the opposite end of the room from the speakers) - but you never know  . . . .

Graham - will you be selling the cable in both terminated and unterminated lengths? And any date for release, and are prices known yet?

A short introduction to the speaker cables - the Spatia speaker cables - can be seen here at http://www.gspaudio.co.uk/interconnects.htm - http://www.gspaudio.co.uk/interconnects.htm in the tab "Speaker"

I am pleased that the early user review by Jon above and also customer feedback I've had by email confirms the Spatia works as we designed it to do - thanks.

A semantic question. Is "spatia" pronounced spay-sha?

I'm assuming from your info that cable pairs are supplied terminated with banana plugs?

Good question after Lautus/lotus. I thought it would be like spatial, Graham?

I see 7.5m is the longest pair you have on loan . . Cry

BTW I'd love a cupboard like your "loan cupboard". Lots of toys LOL.

Do we have a rough idea of price on these cables?

Yes lots of toys, in fact the creme de la creme of hi-fi. It's actually a big pile of boxes in my kitchen that contain nice things I send out to fellow UK club members. I end up buying my favourite bits even faster as I get to hear them first!

The prices appear to range from about £190 for a 1 metre pair to £432 for a 20 metre pair - all terminated. See http://www.gspaudio.co.uk/spatia-speaker-cable.htm for more detail.

Thanks Ian, I missed the link. It's only my opinion but £215 for a 3m pair seems pretty reasonable for what I heard the other night. Interested to hear everyone' views.

It is very hard for those of us from across the pond to comment on price. This because:

1. VAT of 20% versus ours sales tax of around 5-7%
2. Most electronic components are costlier in the EU than over here.

Having said that the price does not seem out of line. However, I believe the Spatia deserves a bit sturdier banana plugs.

I have had the cables in for today and I am so far impressed.
The finish qualty is excellent and I feared they would be stiff cables and hard to lay but they are not- they are very soft.  They are certainly unique with the braiding outer layer

They remind me of how the cusat 50 sounds as an interconnect which I really like - its an honest presentation thats how I interpret it.

The next test is the true test - the go away test - go away with expectations and then go back the next day and does it live up to it but so far very good !!

A quick follow on day 2 proved better than day one, which is a true sign of somethings quality.
I have also moved my speakers to improve things as I was able to hear where things just werent right which is another good sign.

I will try and write ar review in the next week or so once I had had a little more time to appreciate them

I installed the 3.5m set of cables on the main speakers used for TV watching in the living room. They have about 30 hours of use and should have more information by this coming weekend. Cheers.
