Hello all, I'm really tempted to build the Genera phono stage after reading lots of nice things about it, my only concern is regarding whether it's actually do-able for someone like me with little experience of electronics. I'm happy enough with soldering, I think I'm fairly patient and methodical - is this enough or is a bit more experience really essential with something like this?

Any comments or advice much appreciated.

Hi TIM and welcome to the community!

The kit comes with detailed instructions including how to identify all the parts (with a labelled PCB which helps), the order and method for fitting each of them. It will need soldering skills which you have and patience which you have. I think you would be fine from what you have written above.

Well, I've ordered my kit. Quite excited about it actually, it'll be good to get my vinyl out of retirement, it's about time I annoyed the wife with all my Dead Kennedys LP's! I wonder if anyone knows if my Linn K18 cartridge will be an OK match for the Genera or whether anything would benefit from tweaking? Perhaps this isn't the place to ask, I dunno, I'm new here...

Hi TIM, it's very similar to the Audio Technica AT95E - perhaps they copied it off Linn... Wink

I once toyed with removing the plastic bracket and having an alloy bracket made with my logo on it. A nice little earner I thought, but then in came a lot of orders and...

Yes, it will work.
