ZKIT2 Zen Triode mono SET amplifier kit. A single power transformer and a pair of boards for a stereo amplifier.

I am looking for a list of components for these amp boards. I would like to buy these components in the UK. I have already made the PC-Boards. I just need a transformer and a suppler for these components. Can any one help me?

I understand you need help in completing your unit, however it is funny you are asking a British manufacturer for help on an American product. The guys at Decware are nice people and I believe you would be better served by sending DeVon Decker an email at: dev@decware.com

Good luck.

It quite simple, the price for the components from the usa are very expensive plus shipping cost. The cost of the two PC-Boards were £120.00 with shipping to th UK. I made six for £24.00. The guys at Decware may be nice people ? but  there price make-up on there componenents is over the top.

Looks like you will have to make up a BOM from the schematic and find the parts from the usual electronics parts suppliers - eg RS, Maplin, Farnell (now Element14) etc.

Be aware that the amp will voiced to their selection of parts and particularly to their own spec transformers.  Using other parts (particularly the transformers) will be trying to make a Toyota Corolla from Ford parts - the result may not be what you hoped nor what was designed.

Good luck.

I rather not there must be someone out there that's got the parts list. I will just keep on trying and as for the transformer I can get that made I have all the info on that.

If you have the specification of the transformer there are transformer manufacturers who could make this item. However, as for cost, that could be expensive as it is a one-off. I have had to obtain a number of specially wound transformers over many years. You could try Sowter ( http://www.sowter.co.uk/ - http://www.sowter.co.uk/ ) who offer such a service in the UK to enthusiasts - they used to make transformers for many of the old valve companies (they've been around for years) and the sound quality may well be similar to what's intended although tg makes a valid point.

As for the other parts, I have no idea where you could obtain a component list, but looking at the board drawing I can see there is some information on it which looks like the component values?

RS Components do a range of valves but in the past would only supply professional users. They did have an amateur "sideline" company but this seems to have disappeared - it could be worth phoning them and asking.

On a totally different aside, what gets me is that anything called by the name of Buddha gets really serious interest from all sorts of people but if I called an amp by the name of the creator God of Abraham people would think I was stupid or a crank. Is it because one is visible in the form of a man-made ornament and the other cannot be perceived? Wink
