Maybe post brexit we may be able to avoid some of the restrictive EC rules (e.g. Hoover power and proposed lawnmower insurance!!).

The EU created an exclusive club in London for 640 people: turn up for work and simply rubber stamp every new piece of EU legislation - after a good natter of course! Obviously none of them have any experience in running a real country! All the more reason for remaining and becoming one with Adolf's dream.

I was hoping that was fake news.
The sooner we're free of Juncker and his cohorts of expensive useless bureaucrats the better.

Getting off topic here, I know. I wonder just how injurious leaded solder is in the environment?

Just listen, if it sounds good to you, enjoy it.

Probably as injurious as cyanide in table salt. Tin/lead is a chemical compound (formed by alloying) and so is sodium ferrocyanide (formed by reaction), but the EU are OK with us eating that. They even give it an E number (E535).

Lead is a heavy metal which the body cannot get rid of easily, so it shouldn't get in there. If Lead in fact leaches out of tin/lead in the moisture of landfill, then a heck of a lot more lead leaches off roof flashings due to acidic rain, and there is tons more roof flashings than there is scrapings of solder from the millions of electronics products made to date, of which these days are recycled under WEEE anyway.

Blair has dillusions of Charlemagne. You can read what you like into that.

Besides The Art of Electronics, what other books do you recommend? I need some more modern electronics books to add to the pile. The more the merrier.

Try this book list: ftp://ftp.analog.com/pub/cftl/Technical%20Book%20List.pdf

I recommend Op Amp Applications and Linear Circuit Design. Download of entire books is free, or can be bought on Amazon. Very sensible they feature proven techniques which work (unlike some author's works...)
