You would have to trust that the Mac was outputting 192k via its optical transmitter (in the base of the headphone jack). I looked up what does 192k on the Apple site and it only seems to be the Mac Book Pro, and only since after 2013.

I have an on-screen readout which tells me that the AP is outputting 192k. Edit: thanks to James Kelly for informing me that the AP does 192k via optical.

As their is no conversion apart from optical to electrical between the toslink connector and the input to the WM8804 IC, I know it is "going in" at 192k, just like coaxial 192k - it's the same piece of copper track.

So for my part it's true.

Would you like to see photos of the computer screen? I could arrange for a visit of an investigative owner's club team

Edit: unfortunately I don't have a 192k music source to try it - only the waveforms from the AP.
