This will probably be one of those questions that as soon as I hit the send button I will regret, but I'm afraid at the moment I just dont get it.
What I want to do is build myself a power amp, currently thinking along the lines of one of the Aussie Amps modules, and then attempt DIY GS Gerera phono amp. So if I did manage to successfully complete such a project does the phono stage plug directly into the power amp. How do I control volume? If it doesn't then what other piece of equipment do I need. Andrew,
welcome to the forum. I am not familiar with amplifier modules you mention, however, it is usual to use either an integrated amplifier (which will have a volume control - a standalone headphone amp such as the Solo/Novo is similar) or a combination of preamplifier and power amplifier. It might be possible to just incorporate a volume pot in the input of your amplifier but optimum performance will depend on correct impedance matching of the various components. |

Andrew if you build the "aussie amp module" as a power amp you will need a pre-amp to control and feed the power amp. The phono stage would feed one of the inputs to the pre-amp and in turn you use the pre-amp volume control to feed the power amp.
If on the other hand you use the"aussie amp module" and build a receiver (amp pre-amp combo) then the phono state feeds the receiver via one of the inputs. Good luck.
