Like the IcePipe!

Gen X'ers (Z'ers?) seem seriously into S/N, and I'm wondering if it's some sensory stimulant because when it comes to the signal part of S/N - in the Tesco car park, of an evening - us oldies are starting to consider incontinence products seriously.

I hope the sound card you ordered works well.

Having followed your adventures, I honestly thought myself lost most of the time. Your photos, however, give me the comfort that I'm not a million miles away from what you're doing.

My files are still playing from the Asus sound card via fibre to the Maj, using the adapted 192 optical input. The difference here is that the computer isn't exclusively for audio. However, it is the tiniest desktop I've ever owned - its DVD is from a laptop.

The only fault I have is the server, where the music files live, and occasionally they stop playing for a few seconds due to other processes. The server contains everything I do.

If this were purely for audio, I'd store the music on the C-drive.
Not simple enough for Google-Bot to understand...

I would upload more photos if not for the 150KB size limit. It takes some downscaling to get them small enough.

I guess I'm a millennial? I've never cared much for labels.

I like this mini-ITX PC. It idles slightly on the warm side hence why I might transfer everything to a micro-ATX form factor eventually. Apart from the optical disc drive, the computer is absolutely silent. There is occasional very low level PSU switching noise audible depending on the mains. I'm really looking forward to trying Hackboard 2 with its dual core Celeron and 4GB RAM with up to 4TB of NVMe storage available. 40-pin GPIO into a DigiOne Signature and a 12V LPSU looks like an itch that needs to be scratched.

Looks like your having fun Ash. Reminds my of my apprentice days except we were messing around with Minis (real ones!) and Escorts. In the end you realise whatever you do it won’t be a Alfa Integrale or an Audi Quattro. I bought the latter of the two in the end, it was cheaper than experimenting and 10x better than the experimental results.

The most important outcome was the experience and the Audi still got an extra bit of life breathed into it. Good work.

Graham old chap, are you/JohnC able to produce a 5V Enigma PSU1 that is capable of at least 200mA? Pretty please... Big smile

P.S I can pay extra for the inconvenience.

1W rather than 4.8W would be easy for you. My applications of 5V don't require high currents so I should prioritise micro-signal integrity.

So was refunded for the "not as described" Squeezebox Touch. They claimed that there was no surface scratching as I described but even my phone camera could show them up. That's like saying a knife isn't sharp, ffs. Anyway, seems that there are enthusiast circles who use SqueezeLite or variants of it, the operating system of the Touch, to make a virtual Touch out of another computer such as a RPi or another SBC. So you can potentially overcome hardware limitations and get something better sounding for less money. Good to know.

I use SqueezePlay on the same PC as the one running LMS.
Why do you need a separate PC?

I don't especially need a second PC. I am just exploring what options are available. Gonna pre-order Hackboard 2 with the refund money I got back.
