Thanks for working through the tips Neil. I am pleased progress is being made.

The auto-lift is also terrible, sometimes it works (eventually) and others it doesn't.  Have not ruled out pilot error for that though.

There is a known issue with bad batches of the 1500C. If the turntable is new and still returnable, I would advise doing a return rather than a warranty repair.

FWIW a friend of mine got a bad 1500C and the autolift went haywire. It got jammed in the up position and he decided to ship it back. The retailer took it back without question. He ended up with a 1200GR at a discount for his trouble.

Now, I'm not saying every 1500C is bad but I don't trust them anymore. I always recommend the 1200 MK7 or 1200GR now instead. These manual tables with no built in preamp or extra outputs have a lot less to go wrong than the autolift model.

Also, a Reflex M shouldn't hum at all. You've got some good advice and have tried some things. Please keep working through it. Once everything is working properly you will be happy.

The problem I now have returning the 1500c now is I shifted on the supplied 2m red when I sold my old TT and Technics support just came back to me saying as it is new that I should return it Ermm

Yes I know that was a stupid thing to do!

Did you buy it from a dealer?
If you exchange, then they can take the cartridge off the replacement deck.
If not, a 2M Red is relatively cheap.

Yes, purchased from Peter Tyson so was mail order.  I'm sure I can figure something out.  I am certainly not sending it back with the blue or bronze fitted

I just got confirmation that the TT ground lug has continuity with the ground connection point in the IEC socket.
Hook your phono ground cable up between the TT and Reflex M.  That's all the grounding you'll need.
