Well howdy gang!

The name is Shane, and I'm based in Torquay, Devon. Some of you might recognise the username, and have seen me posting on other well known ''UK based'' forums.

I actually joined this forum back in November, 2018, and only posted very little at the time.

I'm a fan of the Novo Headphone Amp. There's something musically satisfying about the Novo, I can't quite put my finger on it. Have had many amps, Schiit Audio Asgard 2, Schiit Magni 3, Schiit Vali 2, NVA AP10H, Lehmann Black Cube II etc. All of them have left me feeling unsatisfied.

Currently I don't have a Novo at the moment, but will look at purchasing one again in a few weeks. I'm also looking out for an original Solo UL, but I might change my mind and just save up for the ULDE.

Nice forum, quite like the unpretentious nature here.

S.

Hi Shane.
As you are still relatively young, definitely audition the Solo ULDE and the Solo UL before purchasing.
The ULDE has less noticeable hiss (apparently). I have never heard one, but my Solo ULis awesome.

Welcome Shane. Or welcome back. You should look into the home audition program, it’s fantastic!

You're even younger than I was when I joined this forum at 23 a few years back. I'm an old man now at 30. I have used both the Solo UL and Solo ULDE. Only drove high impedance headphones with them though and both sounded equally capable. As others have said, the ULDE can drive low impedances without any audible hiss compared to UL and the ULDE case finish also looks and feels nicer. This, combined with more versatility of headphone choice, should make it worth the extra spend if you never intend to sell it. I sold my UL and ULDE a few years ago but will buy back another ULDE when I next make an order.

Thanks guys.

The username has nothing to do with age. I turned 30 this year. So I'm a junior grump now, lol.

Some days I'm 18, but other days I feel my age... Wink
