Hi. I've been a hifi enthusiast for many years having started my journey with a L*nn Axis, Naim Nait & Epos ES11 speakers circa 1988. The Axis was swapped for an LP12, the Nait for a 62/140 & the ES11s for Keilidhs.
When I added a L*nn Karik/Numerik to the system, the LP12 saw less use & after swapping the Karik/Numerik for a Majik DS - almost never. Then a few weeks ago I was at my dealers listening to a DSM when he happened to mention a dem he had been doing recently using Jazz at the Pawnshop which made me think - I've got that record, I must have a listen to it when I get home. And it sounded very good... and got me thinking - I've got some great records but I never play them because I like the convenience of streaming... so how abut digitizing my vinyl collection? The first step was to research Analogue to Digital Converters as I was sure that the line in on my laptop wouldn't be high enough quality. I settled on the Novation Audiohub which supports 24 bit / 96kHz sampling & ASIO drivers. Then I took my LP12 to the dealer to be serviced. When I explained what I was doing, he suggested that an outboard phono stage might be a worthwhile investment. So I demmed the phono cards on my 62 vs Rega Fono MM vs Gram Amp 2 SE... and guess what :) So now my vinyl is sounding better than ever & every time I play a records I make a 24bit/96kHz copy with Audacity so I can stream it next time :) But I do want to see if a Lautus USB cable between the Audiohub & my laptop will improve things?

Good to hear and welcome. Maybe worth trying on the loan scheme?

Another welcome from me, too.
If you're planning on doing quality rips, Graham's Accession phono amp makes things nice and easy by having two outputs, one variable - which makes setting the levels in your recording software dead easy, and you can also keep a direct connection between your phono amp and ADC. Add this to the superlative sound and your records will sound great when streaming. At the risk of provoking a bit of controversy () - you mention ripping in 24bit. The extra dynamic range over 16bit is entirely lost in the noise floor of the record. I've done many tests myself and can't hear a difference between 16 and 24 bit rips. YMMV of course .

I'd second Bob's advice on bit depth for record rips. I understand 16 bits gives 96dB range which is about 20dB more than a very clean record on a quiet turntable so there's plenty of headroom in the ADC allowing gain to be applied with any other restoration in the digital domain. I must admit I usually record at 48kHz nowdays but am not suggesting you should do this.

Ah, yes, I also record at 48kHz, Jon! Mainly because that's the default setting I use with Adobe Audition when recording for my YouTube videos. But unless you have platinum-ears (golden ones needn't apply!) I suggest you'd not hear a difference between 48 and 44.1kHz.
It's mainly down to Graham and education from this forum that I've learnt that slavishly following the bigger-the-number-the-better game is a fool's errand.

It was the 96kHz I was thinking of. My aging ears would concur about the 44.1/48 rate, I too use 48kHz from habit.
