The Bitzie is an excellent device, as long as you ONLY need a USB input. It's the best budget thing that I have ever bought for testing and comparing headphones against each other. For many headphones, adding a Solo, even an Ultra-Linear Diamond Edition, from the analogue connection of the Bitzie will not produce any improvement in sound quality, in my personal opinion. The Bitzie is capable enough on its own for most devices, although some difficult impedance loads (Grados??) or in-ear monitors that are more revealing of low level noise because of how close they are to the ear drum, may benefit from the configuration of the Solo ULDE. Solo uses an analogue input so may well have more connection options than the Bitzie, but it is not a DAC, only an amp.

I am lucky as I have the Majestic and a pair of Proprius so can connect USB, S/PDIF or analogue input and can connect my speakers or "modified" headphone to the Proprius (one or the other, not together), balanced or unbalanced, depending on the cabling. The minimum equipment to get the maximum quality, in my eyes. However, it has cost a lot altogether.

Graham's circuit configurations are intended to duplicate the merits of valves but with solid state so a longer and more consistent lifespan. As for vinyl, I am not an advocate for its playback but I do believe in the preservation of its analogue fidelity for digital audio. Vinyl playback, in its purest form, is a massive black hole in terms of financial investment. But I do respect the medium and those who have the patience to persevere with it.

Thanks again. I'm rethinking the Croft integrated amp.  I'm going to order from the GS site and go with the the addition of the Lautus USB Power Wire. In your opinion is it worth also going for the Lautus USB Cable in addition to this?

I have not personally used the Powerwire but I have used the Lautus USB cable for several years. The Powerwire is basically the Lautus USB cable but with two separate USB-A connectors, one for 5V power and one for data signal. If you want to save a little money and are happy to potentially use two USB slots on your computer, just buy the Powerwire. Nothing to stop you using the power plug with computer bus power but still have the option of plugging it into an external 5V supply to potentially improve its sound performance and for only an extra £5.

The sound this combo will put out after many hours powered on should be very impressive and will show you the true sonic nature of whatever headphone you choose to connect.
