Hi,
Just joined the Forum at long last, having been a Graham Slee fan for many years, so time to introduce myself. Currently I have Reflex MC and Era Gold MM phono stages, both with PSU 1. Also have Solo and Voyager Headphone amps, very pleased with all the kit. Like many I have been upgrading and adding bits of kit since a teenager. Currently I have a Michell Gyro with Isokinetik/Jelco arm feeding the Reflex MC, then into a Naim Classic set up (282 pre-amp, 250amp and Supercap power supply). Cartridges are Audio Terchnica AT-OC9XSH with Shibata stylus and an Audio Technica AT OC9Mk 111. Also have Ortofon 2M Black MM for use with the Era Gold, but preferences nowadays are for the MC cartridges. I have been very pleased with the Reflex MC. It had a full John Cadman service a few years ago and performs superbly, great soundstage and presence. Last year I updated my speakers to the Danish Audiovector R3 Arrette, again bringing out the best of the system. So now I'm back looking at the phono stage - what next? I think in lockdown I have read every review out there on the vast amount of phono stages and manufacturers, just shows vinyl has re-emerged these days. Not matter what review I read, I always recall when I bought my first Graham Slee phono stage (Special edition 2) which was a night and day change from the Naim phono stage I was then using, significant improvement in soundstage, presence and detail. So common sense is telling me to stick with what you know works and performs well and it's therefore time to try the Accession MC with Enigma PSU. So I'm on the waiting list for a loan which hopefully I will get in a few weeks and see if I can hearing improvement over the Reflex MC. Will let you know how it sounds! If anyone has experience on the Accession MC with Egnima PSU, would value your views, Cheers! |

Welcome John,
The ReflexC is a bit of a bargain & I happily ran one for a few years. The Accession C takes its strengths to another level - I tried the loaner (with standard PSU1) a while back and recall its tremendous sense of presence and soundstaging. As soon as sufficient funds are free an order is going in. Mick's review, on the thread updated recently, will be of interest. All the best mate. |
