Any kudos/recommendations for a recent reissue/remaster series? Sound quality is #1 requirement for me. All suggestions welcome. My offering: really impressed over the past year by the following:
- Phish - Jemp Vinyl remasters - yes an acquired taste but early albums leap off TT - Neal Casal - Fade Away Diamond Time 45 RPM Fargo remaster - wow - Traffic - all six 2019 Island/UMC remasters - still digging these and the hi res downloads inlcuded

- If you're partial to Blue Note jazz, any of the Blue Note Tone Poet series remastered by Kevin Gray (https://www.discogs.com/label/1593136-Blue-Note-Tone-Poet-Series) - all the ones I've heard compare well with '60s-'80s pressings
- Ditto for jazz, anything on Gearbox Records (https://www.discogs.com/label/190127-Gearbox-Records) - all AAA vinyl mastered on vintage kit, with great quality control in my experience - I can vouch for the Tubby Hayes, Joe Harriott, Abdullah Ibrahim and Thelonious Monk stuff... - The Jazzman/Columbia Don Rendell/Ian Carr reissues from 2019 - came across a bunch of these for well under £20 a pop and they're all great - Dusk Fire (https://www.discogs.com/release/13324707-Don-Rendell-Ian-Carr-5tet-Dusk-Fire) is sensational... - To my great surprise, the Zappa Records remasters of early (i.e the best) Frank/Mothers stuff: Uncle Meat and Weasels great, Lumpy Gravy Primordial fantastic - even the picture disc of We're Only In It For The Money sounds much better than a picture disc has any right to!

The recent reissue of REM’s New Adventures in HiFi was, I think, very well done.
A couple of years ago, Jason Isbell released remastered versions of Here We Rest and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit: both of which were improvements over the original pressings.
Finally, Wilco tend to do a very decent job with their reissues. Summerteeth (the most recent reissue) was splendid. Various packages are scheduled for release in September to mark the anniversary of YHF. |

That's one album (REM) that I've never got into, don't know why.
