Hi there I was just wondering if it’s alright to have my headphones plugged into the to the solo ultra linear with it switched out so they are not being used .
Will they be have any electrical power to them in this mode.

Not sure about the power question, but my Audio Technicas have been plugged into solo for the last couple of years switched out so I hopes its ok, no smoke yet.

A good point you bring up. I always leave my headphones plugged in to the Solo and when I wont to listen I switch the amp over to INPUT (from MUTE) about an hour before, as I find the headphones sound better warmed up so I'm guessing no power is getting to them.

Based on my experience of constant headphones connection and constant power up for years on two Solos, absolutely fine. In theory there will be at least a very small signal across the headphones whenever the amp is powered up, whatever the position of the volume control and source switch. Probably not enough to have any effect though. |
