Agreed. I modified my SME IV arm so its height and the SRA could be modified by turning a grub screw and soon lost interest in doing so! For a long time I have left it on the same setting with the horizontal line on the side of the arm parallel to the record surface - the same approach as yourselves.

Agreed. Messing about with arm height record by record is a likely path to 'Audiophilia Nervosa'.
I tend to set the arm slightly down at the pillar with a 'normal' thickness LP & then leave it.
