I currently have a Rega P5 (upgraded spped controller and subplatter), with a HOMC Dynavector 20H and the MM Accession.
What would you upgrade first? To get into LOMC, I would need the Elevator/Step-up plus a new cartridge. Let's say together that costs USD$2,000. Is that a better path than selling the Rega and getting a better turntable (likely used) for $3,000 all in? I listen almost exclusively to original pressing jazz from the 50s-70s, in both stereo and mono. Thanks, Dave

My completely biased view (having just bought one) is to try a Funk Firm Houdini, an Elevator and a nice LOMC. That should just about squeeze into budget.
However, someone with a less biased approach is bound to come along and suggest an alternative.

Hi Dave,
If there’s a LOMC you know you prefer to your current cartridge, I’d be headed that way. Mick.

Hi Dave,
So many possibilities. The Houdini does sound interesting & might well invalidate my suggestion of a change of arm
to something like an Audiomods series 6. |

I (IMO) feel a (modified) P5 is in general not good/qualified enough as a match to the 20H / Accession
I went from a standard P5/Elys2 to a Michell TecnoDec+clamp and RB250 with TecnoWeight Cartridge became a Nagaoka MP110, played into the GramAmp2 Communicator with PSU1 More than 5 years ago I thought it was for sure much better sounding than my P5 setup! And...I am not searching for more, except maybe the Accession MM So I would put the money to a better turntable/arm instead of LOMC cartridge and more...

Hi Dave, my personal opinion is spend $2k on a turntable and arm, trading in the P5. But first what are you looking for soundwise? Put another way have you heard your albums sound better on other systems and what was the difference you liked?
