That's a good iterative approach Greg, I agree with the order. The later steps can't fix a flaw earlier on like surface dirt or speed variations. I agree with Patientot about the amount of work
involved in adapting the complex filter circuits. I'd want anything I
tried to be reversible as well as sounding right. The switching on the Revolution M I had was great and it went to a very good home when I got an Accession M. If I had 78's I would have kept the Rev M or a Jazz Club as the versatility on EQ was great value with a terrific sound, or rather no added sound. just the music. A few decibels change in the HF rolloff is enough to improve the presentation of the music, and done properly in the GSP/HFC gear there is no downside. Partly I suggested reading the Genera thread because it is very well written so you come away knowing more about what matters in hi-fi design, the approach and not just the number crunching which is pretty impressive to be fair. |
