I decided to put my HiFI in a different part of the room so I could free up some space.
But I needed longer speaker cables to do so. So I decided to get better RCAs at the same time so I went with the 10% rule on spending this would of cost well over £800 a lot of money to me
So I contacted a well known HiFi cable shop and asked for some advice
My last speaker cable cost £10 a meter. I asked if keeping with the same manufacture for both speaker and RCAs cables was a good I dear he said yes he did I then told him what I had he then recommend me what to get. he said the RCAs are a lot better than the one's I have and the speaker cables work good with the RCAs
I decided to go with both that he recommended and I'm not disappointed I did so
I did a comparison with old and new cables and licked what i heard with the new cables
I then put my speakers in the new place in my room more off the wall than they were wow what a difference that made
the speaker cables were less than £8 a meter
I needed 4 RCAs
and I did not go bi wire with the speaker cable as recommended. the last time I did
but what i'm asking is any thoughts on this 10% rule for cables
By the way I spent less than £500

I’m not a fan of the 10% rule, or any such rules of expenditure really. i so often read “source first” for spending, but in the end I found (twice in life) speakers I loved the sound of, and found electronics for them. I do very much agree with all of your cabling from one maker for consistency of sound, as I’ve run into problems with mix and match.
