Well while waiting for the kit to come along, I picked up this unit off ebay to power my Touch unit.
Apparently its a chinese clone of a German design. Uses op-amp circuit for voltage control. Darlington pair output device. Lots of good quality Panasonic gold capacitors and some Wima. Can't say I've heard the difference in the music yet, but I really wanted to minimize the number of switching power supplies in the system. I can say that I don't hear any transformer hum from this encapsulated torroid. em.

And there lies the real problem, no difference in sound. Just go on Google and find out how to make a 5v supply. It’ll supply 5v at 3 amps. Won’t make the slightest bit of difference to the sound that or it’ll degrade it.
Good engineering is far more than nailing some bits together following a circuit diagram. The copies and clones on eBay may have the components but they’ll always lack the engineering nounce to make the things actually work. A case in point is the Enigma. It’ll be a transformer and a regulator circuit like every other power supply. It’s the engineering behind it that makes the difference.

There are 10 kinds of people. Those who understand binary and those who don't.
